Classification and Compensation

Supports activities campus-wide activities on position management and classification to include consultation, position design & classification, compensation analysis, training, and administration of classification programs for the university. Classification and Compensation provides support and guidance on a variety of salary administration policies and best practices to maintain fair and equitable classification and salary decisions for the university’s workforce.

Compensation Guidelines

Providing equitable salaries and wages to all employees, within the limits of accountability and fiscal responsibility. The unit supports position management, classification, consultation, position design, and compensation analysis.

Position Classification

Career-banded classifications and their associated salary ranges are determined by the Office of State Human Resources (OSHR). SHRA stands for Subject to the North Carolina Human Resources Act. EHRA stands for Exempt from the North Carolina Human Resources Act. The creation of a new SHRA positions, classification changes to positions, and salary increases are managed by the Compensation and Classification Section within the Office of Human Resources.
