Winston-Salem State University makes every effort to assist students by providing financial assistance to help meet the cost of education. Certain adjustments are already considered in the calculation of a family’s ability to meet expenses in the formula that calculates financial need. Therefore, Winston-Salem State University will not always be able to reduce your expected contribution to meet educational costs based on your unique circumstances. Special consideration is generally given only for those special circumstances.

Dependency Questionnaire

The Office of Financial Aid is required to consider parental information and expect a parental contribution for students who are not independent according to the FAFSA definition. This service request will allow you to answer various questions to determine if you are dependent or independent.

Parent Non-Filing Income Statement

Based on the information provided on the 2026-2027 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the parent indicated he/she did not file taxes for the 2024 year. To verify that you provided the correct information, we will compare your parent's FAFSA with the information on this institutional verification document and with any other required documents.

Completing this form, you will not be eligible for other federal grants, federal loans, or Federal Work-Study for the current academic year.

Your 2026-2027 FAFSA has been flagged for "Unusual Enrollment History Review" by the U.S. Department of Education because you received Federal Pell Grant funds and/or Federal Direct Loans at multiple educational institutions during the review period of 2022-23, 2023-24, 2024-25, and 2025-26.
