Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) Access Instructions
VDI is a system supported by WSSU that allows a user to access campus from a remote location. When a user utilizes a remote VDI desktop, they are working with a Windows PC as if they are on campus. This VDI desktop is a standard desktop with access to applications such as Office 2016. This will allow access to network drives such as G: and H:, but not to files stored on your local campus computer.
- You must first submit a Remote Access, VPN or VDI Support RAMTech ticket at: RAMSupport.
- Once you are approved, you can access by the following method:
- VDI Client Download to your home PC or laptop:
- The link to download the client is https://view.wssu.edu.

- Once there, select VMWare Horizon Client.
- Next you will choose the client appropriate for your home computer. There are clients for Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS , or Android.

- After the client install is complete you will be asked for a server name. Click Add server and type view.wssu.edu.

- After adding the server view.wssu.edu click Connect.

- Log in with your RAM ID credentials.

- You will need to authenticate with DUO by typing push1 in the box.

- HTML Access: This is the quickest way to access the VDI environment by using a browser.
o Open a browser (i.e., Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, or FireFox) and navigate to https://view.wssu.edu.
o Select VMware Horizon HTML Access.
o This takes you to a login screen where you use your RAM ID username and password.
o Please note that you cannot print to a locally attached printer while using HTML access. You can print to WSSU networked printers.
While logged in, desktops can be customized however you like, but they will revert back to their normal state once you disconnect.
