  • Eat Smart, Move More, Weigh Less" was developed by professionals from North Carolina State University, NC Cooperative Extension, NC Division of Public Health, and East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine. Based on the theory of planned behavior, Eat Smart, Move More, Weigh Less is a weight management program that uses strategies proven to work for weight loss and maintenance. Each lesson informs, empowers and motivates participants to live mindfully as they make choices about eating and physical activity.
    • Online Class Overview | Enrollment The Eat Smart, Move More, Weigh Less 15-week program holds classes online, using the Blackboard Collaborate online learning system. The cost: $30 with $25 refund for good attendance (Must be a member of the NC State Health Plan). The deadline for Registration is Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 5:00 pm.     • On campus Class Overview: Health has arrived. Healthy weight loss classes begin in January. The cost: $20 for 15 weeks. The program provides opportunities for participants to track their progress and keep a journal of healthy eating and physical activity behaviors. This program is offered to employees interested in eating smart, moving more, and achieving a healthy weight. Contact Florence Adams at 336-750-3445 for more information.
  • The Winston-Salem State University's Department of Human Performance & Sport Sciences has received a grant from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to implement an obesity intervention designed to improve the psychosocial well-being and physical health of African American women. Human Performance and Sports Science is the lead organization and will partner with the Novant Health Maya Angelou Center for Women's Health and Wellness of Forsyth Medical Center, the YWCA of Winston-Salem, the Mental Health Association in Forsyth County, and Goler Memorial AME Zion Church.

  • Having trouble developing a healthy lifestyle as a professional on the go? Don’t Sweat It! Let University Recreation (UREC) help. University Recreation has UREC Fitness Activities and UREC Events. There are also things you didn’t know about the perks to having a UREC Membership.
  • The Health and Wellness Committee of the Staff Senate provides educational information that encourages better health practices. Workshops, seminars, and special events focus on five areas: self-responsibility, nutritional awareness, physical fitness, stress management, and environmental sensitivity.
