Connecting to Network Drive in OS X

  1. First you must connect to the drive manually. To do this:
    • Select Finder and choose Go > Connect to Server
    • In the server connection window that appears enter protocol & name of the share you wish to connect to:

For your H:/ drive type smb://wssu.edu/RamFile/Users/*username

*this is a variable and is whatever your Windows username is

For your G:/ drive type smb://wssu.edu/RamFile/Groups

  1. After the address is entered (this must be done separately for each network connection), click Connect, select Registered User and enter your WINDOWS user name and password

DO NOT choose Remember this password in my keychain. When we set this up as a persistent connection (every time you login) you will be given the opportunity to enter them again. Not saving your passwords on Macs avoids a lot of headaches and account lockouts when you have to change your Windows password every 90 days

Click Connect and if everything was entered correctly in server address field, the drive will open
