WSSU Android/iPhone Jabber Setup

To use Jabber on your mobile device,  you will first need to make sure that a Jabber Profile has been created. To do so, navigate to https://uctools.wssu.edu/selfservice/ and log in using your WSSU credentials. Upon logging in, you will see the following –

Unified Communications Self Service Portal

Your name, along with your default phone number should appear. If the default number is incorrect, prior to taking any additional actions, this information must be updated by using the following link; https://ramsupport.wssu.edu/TDClient/3161/Portal/Requests/TicketRequests/NewForm?ID=XxE8UwiICPk_&RequestorType=Service

If the name and phone number information is correct, then you can proceed. Simply press the Plus Icon Icon for the device you wish to use. Once completed, it will change to aCheckmark Iconicon indicating that there is a profile for the device you wish to use on the phone network. Once that is completed, you may then use the QR code to download the appropriate software package for the device you wish to use.Android Store Example(Note: If you download the application and launch it BEFORE clicking on the appropriate application; it will not work properly and will have to be uninstalled and reinstalled afterwards.)Once installed, Open the application.​​​​​​​Jabber Initial LaunchYou will be prompted to input your username@company. Input your username@wssu.edu and then press ‘Continue’ to move forward. You will then be prompted with a Certificate Verification. Press ‘Continue’ to accept the certificate.​​​​​​​ This must be accepted.Android Cert ExampleApple users will see a different screen, but will need to Accept it regardless.  iPhone cert exampleThe login will then reset and prompt for your username and password. In this screen, only enter your RAM ID, followed by your password. This will be what the application requests in the future.​​​​​​​Android Login Screen Example

You will be then prompted to allow access to certain features and services on your phone. In order for Jabber to work correctly, you will need to authorize all of them. It is up to you to decide to allow Biometric Authentication; if the application prompts you for it. Everything else will need to be be accepted.

Jabber permissions optionsThe row of buttons at the bottom will allow you to access your Contacts (if shared), Chats (not used), Calls (This does not pull call history from your desk phone), Meetings (not used), and Voicemail.​​​​​​​Jabber App OptionsTo make a call, tap the ‘Calls’ Jabber Calls Iconbutton at the bottom, then press the blue ‘Keypad’​​​​​​​Jabber Keypad Button Icon.​​​​​​​
iDevice users will need to, instead of pressing the blue ‘Keypad’​​​​​​​ Jabber Keypad Button Iphoneicon, at the top of the page swipe from ‘Recents’ to ‘Keypad’.​​​​​​​

Keypad iPhoneInput the number you wish to dial. Please keep in mind this functions as if you were using your phone on-campus, so the same dialing rules apply. (9 to get out, followed by the full number you wish to dial; or the 4 digit extension of a user on-campus).​​​​​​​Android Dialpad for JabberOnce the number is typed, press the​​​​​​​ Jabber Send Call Iconicon to make the call. Once in the call, you can use the icons at the bottom of the screen to control the phone call.​​​​​​​ Jabber Phone Interface IconsTo end the call, use the​​​​​​​ Jabber End Call Iconicon.
